Things people ask

Anything missing goes to hello@loungeandlenses.com, where a person reads it.

Fit & sizing

Look inside the temple of a pair you already own. The first number is the lens width in millimetres: 47 or below is our S, 48 to 51 is M, 52 and up is L. If nothing is printed there, measure one lens across with a ruler, or measure your face from temple to temple and use the table in the fit guide.

No. Only the lens width changes, by 3 mm per step. The bridge and the temple length are the same across S, M and L on every frame, so a size change moves the frame wider or narrower and nothing else.

Usually the bridge, not the size. Keyhole-bridge acetate frames rest on the nose and cannot be adjusted; if you have a low or flat bridge, a frame with adjustable nose pads will sit better. The fit guide has a two-minute check for this before you order.

Yes, any optician will heat and bend acetate or tweak nose pads for a small fee or none. Metal can be straightened too, but a thin wire that has been badly bent is never quite as true again, which is why the case is in the box.

Lenses

No. They ship with clear plano demo lenses that correct nothing. They are there so you can see the shape on your face and so your optician has the exact lens shape to cut to. We do not supply prescription lenses of any kind.

Almost always. Independents are used to it; some chains prefer to sell their own frames and may decline or charge extra. If yours wants the lens shape as a file or the groove depth on the half-rim, ask us and we will send it.

The lens carries an anti-reflective coating and a filter that absorbs part of the blue end of the spectrum. The effect is less glare off a monitor and fewer reflections. That is the entire claim: we make no health claim for them of any kind, because we cannot show one.

Because a filter that absorbs some blue light leaves the remainder looking a little warmer. It is visible against white paper and invisible after an hour. It is the same on every maker's version; some just do not mention it.

No. Ready readers have the same power in both eyes and lens centres set for an average face. If your eyes differ, or you have astigmatism, they will feel wrong after twenty minutes. They are not a substitute for an eye test, and if you are reaching for readers for the first time we would rather you had one.

Anti-reflective coatings show oil more than bare plastic because there is no reflection to hide it behind. Rinse, a drop of washing-up liquid, dry with the cloth. Never a dry wipe on a sleeve, which grinds dust into the coating.

The no-logo rule

No. Every shape is drawn by us from the measurements up and named for what it is: round, square, half-rim, oval. Nothing here is a copy of, a tribute to, or "inspired by" another maker's design, and the terms say so in writing.

Because a frame should not advertise who made it, and because the one thing people actually want from a temple - the size - is on the product page and in the fit guide. No name, no model code, no size stamp, no mark on a lens, no name on a case.

No. One house name, no sub-labels, no collaborations. The cases, chains and cloths are as plain as the frames.

The 2-year guarantee

Hinges that loosen or seize, screws that will not hold, spring hinges that lose their spring, the nylon cord on a half-rim, and lens coatings that peel or craze, within 2 years of delivery. We repair where we can and replace where we cannot, and we pay postage both ways.

A frame that was sat on, left in a hot car or on a radiator, bent in a bag without its case, scratched by a dry wipe or by sand, or cleaned with alcohol. Plating wear at the nose pads and temple tips after years of daily use is cosmetic and not covered either. Those are the materials behaving as the product page said they would.

No. You have a statutory right under EU and Finnish consumer law to goods that conform to the contract, which runs for at least two years regardless of anything on this site. Our guarantee sits alongside that and names the parts specifically.

Orders & returns

Within two working days from Helsinki, usually the next morning. A tracking link arrives when the label is printed, a few hours before the first scan.

Trying it on at home is fine; wearing it for a week is not. Returns need to be unworn, undamaged and in their case, within 30 days. A frame that has already been glazed with prescription lenses cannot come back, because it is no longer the thing we sold - talk to us before you take it to the optician if you are unsure of the size.

Yes, as long as they are undamaged and in the case. We do not resell them; we use them for fit testing.

To the UK, Norway and Switzerland. Import duty and local VAT are collected by the carrier on delivery in those countries and are not in our price.
